We hope you’ve recovered from the election campaign. Of course, the result was not as we hoped, and we lost some fantastic advocates for our cause including Mike Foster (DfID Minister), Sally Keeble (who pushed through the Vultures Bill) and ultimately our Prime Minister.

However, LCID did make an impact, and given how new we are, that’s something positive to take away. In Harrow, Gareth Thomas MP was comfortably elected, as were Jim Fitzpatrick and Andrew Smith in Poplar & Oxford East.

We’ve got an exciting few months ahead, and we’d love you to be involved in shaping where we go now.

Social

First up, we are having a social next week to get together, enjoy a drink, and reflect on where we’ve got to so far.
For full details, and to RSVP, please go to our Facebook page.

Where: Westminster Arms, 9 Storey’s Gate, London, SW1P 3AT (downstairs)
When: 7pm onwards

Next Meeting

In June, we’ll be having our next meeting of the exec, to formalise some of our plans. We’ll be looking at how we become an official Labour society, engage with the Leadership candidates, and have a presence at Labour Party conference.

We haven’t got the date finalised yet, but will keep you posted. If you’d like to be more involved in running LCID, please email David at david@lcid.org.uk.

Not in London? We want to make sure we are UK wide!

We are really keen to be a UK wide Labour society, and not just focus on London. If you are outside of London, please get in touch, we’d really like to get activities going across the UK. Just email David at david@lcid.org.uk.

Many thanks,

The LCID Team
