Thank you to everyone who attended our reception in Parliament on Wednesday for our Founding Members.
Ivan Lewis and LCID Honorary Co-Presidents Rachel Reeves MP and Baroness Glenys Kinnock addressed a packed room of over 100 people. Ivan spoke of the need for a new progressive covenant on development to take us beyond the MDGs that expire in 2015, while Rachel stressed development was more than just aid and must be top of the agenda in the Treasury, No.10 and across government. Glenys spoke of how development is deeply political and how we must hold a government that does not share our values firmly to account.
The reception was a chance to thank those who have joined us over recent months and connect with others who share a similar passion for development issues. We are seeking 200 Founding Members as we seek to become a Socialist Society affiliated to the Party – please help us reach the 200 mark by joining up here.
LCID is an entirely volunteer-run organisation and we are very keen to involve more people in our work. If you are interested in helping us run events and debates, helping us with research scrutinising this Tory-led government, shaping our policies, running canvassing sessions in or contributing to our blog, please get in touch.
